The Commodore's Corner
(or should we call this, The Past Commodore's Corner)
Welcome to my last corner. It's now 2004 and my term as Commodore has ended. It's a bittersweet end. I've really enjoyed being Commodore, but I don't think that would have been possible without the support of the Board and the membership. You have all been so helpful over the last two years. I raise my glass to each and every one of you. You've done a superb job of making this organization one of the best yacht clubs out there. I am proud to say I am a member. I hope you are, too.
Now to the good stuff! Congratulations to our new Board members Lunn Smolenyak, Karen Attee and Mark Pirie. Since Lynn has moved to the Board, she resigned her office as Secretary and our new Commodore, Kim Taylor (yes, that's my wife) has appointed Alicia Sonju as our new Secretary. Congratulations, Alicia, and thank you for volunteering. As with almost every new year at the Club, other personnel changes have occurred. Andy Allen has volunteered to be our new Building Chair. His office is next door to the Club at Market Technologies... what a coincidence and convenience! I have volunteered as the new Binnacle editor (yes, I just don't know how to say no). After a month without a Vice Commodore (our by-laws don't allow an officer to serve more than two consecutive years), Marty Jensen has agreed to be our new Vice Commodore. Thank you all for stepping forward and helping with the operation of the Charlevoix Yacht Club. With more than thirty years since our founding, we are still going strong.
Now! y'all keep yourselves on the favored tack to the mark and as close to the rhum line as possible!
John Taylor
