From The Helm
Kim Taylor-Commodore
Ive lucked out over the past month or two and have not needed to fill this space. A big thank you goes to Lynn Smolenyak and Linda Orlow for submitting enough copy to the Binnacle Editor that I was able to take it easy.
Those days are temporarily over. Im sure that Lynn and Linda are now busy getting their boats ready for the upcoming season. In fact I know at this writing that Linda and her husband Tom are out on the East Coast picking up a new Beneteau.
At our last Board of Directors meeting, our race chair Mike Miller presented his 2004 Race Budget. This is a very good sign that spring has truly arrived and summer cant be far behind. Well soon be leaving the confines of terra firma to venture out onto the lakes and enjoy our true passion, boating. Another sign that warmer weather is close at hand is that the Skippers' Meeting was held on Friday the 23rd of April. I hope those of you who needed to be in attendance where there. I took the night off as Im not really racing much anymore. I now prefer to spend my Wednesday evenings lounging around the club house reading a good book, enjoying my favorite beverage and perhaps some quality time without my kids or husband. Besides, although Im not racing, I still enjoy meeting with all of you after you get off the water.
I know this might seem early, but the Board has begun the process of planning the 2004 Red Fox. If youre interested in helping, contact John Taylor our overall chair of the regatta at 231.547.5656 eve or 231.237.5011 days.
Thats all for now, if you have something you would like to contribute to the Binnacle email it to jtaylor@mytitlecompany.com.

Bar Stools, Bar Stools
The Board would welcome some new decorated bar stools. If you think you might want to put one together a 29" light wood stool is available at K-Mart for $19.99. It would be nice to have more, even if we end up with too many for the bar... they can always be used elsewhere around the club.
Help Wanted
Chris Lamb "Padawan" has two crew spots to fill on a 2004 Beneteau First 36.7. If you are interested, contact Chris at cmlambpsi@aol.com.
