CYC News... October 29, 2006

Announcements:

You have been mailed your ballot, membership renewal and a survey.  Charlevoix Yacht Club is your club and we, the Board of Directors, would love to hear back from you.  Please make sure to vote, renew your membership, and give us feedback on what we can do to make CYC better!  The deadline for ballots is December 15, 2006.

Summer is over, but the season isn’t - until we recognize the many participants of the summer events.  Join us for the annual Awards Dinner Saturday, November 4, 2006.  Social time starts at 6, dinner at 7 and awards will follow.  This year we will have a full potluck dinner (no meat will be provided) so plan to bring a dish to pass, and table service for your group.

Thank you to all the Volunteers who have helped CYC host some very successful events this year.  The Red Fox Regatta, vital to our club, requires many people to cover all the bases.  Our club is built on volunteerism, and we could not operate without the involvement of so many. Thank you!

In addition to a successful season at home, many of our boats represented CYC very well in other events.  In the Chicago to Mackinac Race, Tom Orlow and the crew of Northern Light had a terrific race finishing second in their division.  Windrunner did great placing 29 overall, Bramble and Padawan II also did  well under very challenging conditions.  Windrunner also represented CYC in the Port Huron to Mackinaw race and Marty Jensen with Moxie raced the Melges 24 regattas in Muskegon,  Lake Geneva and Detroit.

The club will continue to be open Friday nights through the winter with a bartender though we would love to have hosts as well!  Linda Orlow and Lynn Smolenyak will be planning the Friday Feature Program to continue a couple of Fridays per month.
