Join the Charlevoix Yacht Club!Thank you for considering membership in the Charlevoix Yacht Club. As a member of theCYC you will have the chance to participate in many club activities while meeting other areaboaters. Powerboat and cruising sailboat members explore new destinations andrendezvous at the end of the day to share their experiences, providing an excellentopportunity to expand your knowledge of both local and offshore waters. Sailors participatefrom May to October on Lake Charlevoix in Wednesday evening race series and severalweekend offshore races. Arena racing with J-22’s is quite a spectacle on Round Lake in thefall. The traditional Labor Day weekend Charlevoix Yacht Club Red Fox Regatta drawssailboats from all over the Great Lakes to compete. This regatta provides an excellentopportunity for all members to get involved on the water and at social gatherings at the endof the race days.

The CYC, established in 1970, is a club made up of over 340 local and non-local boatingenthusiasts. While boat ownership is not required, most of our members do own boats. TheCYC owns the club facility at 209 Ferry Avenue, maintained mostly by volunteers. In the fallof 2019 construction began on the new Clubhouse (on the second floor) with the EventCenter (on the first floor), on Lake Charlevoix, on Ferry Avenue. This joint facility will open inthe early summer of 2021.

The Club is open Friday evenings year-round, and Wednesday evenings May-October, andmay be open even more often with the new Clubhouse. Annual social events typicallyinclude a Vinyl Night, Commodore’s Ball, and various holiday and sports parties. Events arepublicized on the club website, weekly email updates, and a quarterly newsletter. Theexisting Clubhouse is currently available to rent by members in good standing for two years.The Event Center is also available to rent by members and the public.

Membership is for individuals or couples and runs for a calendar year January-December,and is confirmed with a membership card(s) that is reciprocated nationally with many otheryacht clubs. Membership is via application , payment of an initiation fee (if over age 30) anddues, and board review. Also required is an interview questionnaire completed jointly with asponsor (a member during the last 2 years). At times there is a cap on the maximum numberof memberships and a waitlist, so consider applying early.
